If you’re lucky enough to be the owner of a bird, then you know that one thing is for sure: they like to be entertained! Whether it’s a newborn or a few years old, keeping your feathered friend occupied is not only important, but it’s essential. Now, if you’re not sure how to keep your little buddy entertained when you step away momentarily, then here are some simple ways to do so:
Stock up on Toys
One of the best ways to keep your bird entertained is to stock up on toys in their cage. From bells to swing-like perches, there are a series of incredible things you can purchase for your feathered friend that they’re sure to love! Of course, before you set your sights on any toys, you’ll want to make sure that not only are they intended for your bird and their size, but make sure that they’re bird-friendly.
The reason being is that some toys on the market are not bird-safe, and if they gnaw at a particular piece for quite some time, it could break off and get lodged in their throat. The best solution? Only purchase bird cage toys from certified sellers (such as a pet store) — and if you’re ever not sure whether a specific toy is safe for your bird, don’t purchase it altogether.
Get a Large Cage
Depending on the size of your little buddy, you’ll want to make sure that they have an adequate amount of space to move around and exercise. When a bird is given a smaller cage, typically, it doesn’t provide them much room to fly around and have fun — which can make it quite challenging to keep them entertained. Indeed, before you purchase the cage, you’ll want to make sure that it’s not too big for them and that they’ll be comfortable.
