Sometimes, it can seem like a challenge to keep your dog active, no matter how hard you try. From tossing a ball across the living room to going for a walk around your neighborhood, some pooches aren’t a fan of exercising at all. So, if you’re looking to keep your fur baby active, what are some ways to do that with ease? Here are a few of our favorite methods!
Go to a Dog Park
One of the best ways to get your dog active is to bring them to a dog park. Of course, if your little buddy doesn’t get along with other canines (this is more common than you think), then it would be best to skip this suggestion altogether. Sometimes, dogs just need a little motivation from their peers — especially if they’re running around and are having a grand ol’ time!
If you’re not sure where to look, start by asking your dog’s groomer or other pet parents in the area. Not only will you find a variety of great spots, but you’ll also be able to set up dog playdates with your pooch and one of their buddies — which will be the best way to get Fido up and running!
Another fun way to help motivate your pooch to run around is to get a snack-based toy. Now, if you’re not sure what that entails, it’s really straightforward (and popular among many dog parents): it’s a toy that will let you hide a snack/treat in the middle. Once your dog gets their paws on this toy, they’ll have to play around with it until they find a way to get the treat out of the center!
Indeed, you’ll want to find a snack-based toy that will be proportionate to your fur baby, since one that’s too large or small will create problems (and will eliminate the fun altogether). Additionally, you could also change things up and put a tiny bit of peanut butter on the treat, to make your fur baby’s day even more magical and delicious!
