Are you frantically looking for tips on how to reduce, and ultimately stop, your cat from clawing your furniture? Look no further than this blog! While there are many methods online to help prevent “Fluffy” from ripping apart your couch, here are a few of our favorite, simple ways that can be completed within a day:
One of the best ways to prevent your cat from clawing the furniture is to consider getting a scratching post. Now, if you happen to have one of these magnificent features in your home already, then you might want to consider getting an additional post since cats do like variety!
If you’re not set on the idea of purchasing another scratching accessory, you can simply create your own, unique post for your cat — and there are plenty of DIY tutorials online to help you create the most wonderful post that your little buddy will enjoy and scratch to their heart’s content!
Just think: the more scratching posts you have set up in your home, the less inclined your animal will be to go after the furniture. However, if you notice that your cat is still scratching the furniture, then you’ll want to place a scratching post by the furnishing — which will more than likely prevent them from going after that priceless heirloom!
Block Your Furniture
Another great way to keep your cat from clawing, is to adhere to one of the following methods:
Cover the spot in tin foil.
Wrap area in double-sided tape
Put up a fireplace screen in front
While these techniques won’t be the most visually pleasing, they will undoubtedly do the trick — and will prevent your cat from even thinking about clawing.
