Pet Spotlight - Lovebirds

Lovebirds are known for the strong pair bonds that they form with each other. These small, bold birds are beautiful pets! Are you thinking of adding a pair to your family?  Here are a few frequently asked questions to keep in mind.

Lovebird FAQs:

What type of personality do lovebirds have?

Lovebirds may be small, but they have bold personalities! These stocky birds are always on the go. They develop strong personal bonds with other birds. In fact, they sometimes become so invested in each other that they might not want to interact with you. It’s important to keep that in mind when caring for your pets.

What should I feed my lovebird?

Lovebirds need a balanced diet of seeds or pellet food, as well as a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can feed your pet apples, berries, lettuce, broccoli and even zucchini.

What kind of housing does my lovebird need?

Lovebirds are very active birds — and they love to have the space to exercise. Make sure that you purchase a cage that is large enough for your lovebird AND a friend. Your lovebird should not be housed alone, so you want to make sure that your lovebird has enough space to get some exercise and have personal space, too.
