How to Care for Your Lovebirds

Lovebirds can be a beautiful addition to your family.  These active birds show fierce loyalty and affection to their family!  Here are a few tips to help you care for your new exotic bird.

Lovebird Care Tips:

Housing - Your Lovebirds' cage should be at least twenty-four to thirty inches wide.  Make sure that your perches are small enough for your birds' feet.  Ladders, swings and bamboo rings are a favorite among birds!  Lovebirds enjoy chewing.

Diet - Lovebirds prefer a seed mix.  Choose a seed that is created specifically for your lovebird.  You can also give your new pet fresh food 3-4 times a week.  These fresh foods can include apples, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and spinach.  Just be sure to avoid any foods that are high in fat, salt and sugar.

Preventative Health Care - Take your new pet to the vet once a year for a checkup.  This will help prevent health issues and identify any problems in their early stages.
